These Terms & Conditions of Membership govern the relationship between the Cannabis Trades Association (CTA) and its members. By applying for membership, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

CTA” means the Cannabis Trades Association Ltd.

Member” means any organisation, company, partnership, or corporate body accepted into membership of the CTA.

Membership” means the category of organisational membership applied for and accepted by the CTA.

Primary Contact” means the individual authorised by the Member to act on its behalf.

Subscription” means the annual membership fee payable by the Member.

Website” means www.cannabistrades.org.

2. Membership Eligibility and Application

2.1 Membership is open to organisations operating within, or supporting, the cannabis, hemp, CBD, medicinal cannabis, or associated sectors, subject to approval by the CTA.

2.2 The CTA does not offer individual or personal membership.

2.3 The CTA reserves the right to accept or reject any application for membership at its sole discretion.

2.4 By applying for membership, the applicant confirms that all information provided is accurate, complete, and submitted on behalf of the organisation.

2.5 Membership is granted on the understanding that Members will operate in a lawful, ethical, and professional manner and in alignment with the CTA’s aims and values.

3. Member Responsibilities

3.1 Members must comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations relevant to their activities.

3.2 Members agree to adhere to all CTA Codes of Conduct, policies, guidance, and sector standards as issued or updated from time to time.

3.3 Members must not act in any way that may bring the CTA, its members, or the wider sector into disrepute.

3.4 Members are responsible for ensuring that their products, services, marketing, and communications remain compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements.

3.5 The Member is responsible for the actions of its directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives when acting in connection with CTA membership.

4. Membership Fees and Renewal

4.1 The minimum term of membership is 12 months from the date of acceptance.

4.2 Membership renews annually unless cancelled in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

4.3 Cancellation of renewal must be submitted in writing no later than three months before the renewal date.

4.4 Membership subscriptions are payable annually in advance and are non-refundable.

4.5 Annual Subscription Increases

4.5.1 From the beginning of February each year, annual membership subscriptions will increase in line with inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or another recognised inflation index reasonably determined by the CTA.

4.5.2 Members will be notified in writing of the adjusted subscription amount at least 28 days before the annual renewal date.

4.5.3 Renewal of membership following such notification constitutes acceptance of the revised subscription fee.

4.5.4 Members who do not wish to accept the adjusted subscription fee may cancel their membership in accordance with clause 4.3.

4.6 The CTA reserves the right to amend membership fees outside of inflationary increases where necessary, subject to notice defined in 4.5.2.

4.7 Failure to pay membership fees by the due date may result in suspension or termination of membership.

5. Use of CTA Name, Logo, and Branding

5.1 Members may use CTA branding and membership logos only while membership remains active and in good standing.

5.2 CTA branding must not be used in a misleading manner or in a way that implies endorsement of specific products, services, or claims unless expressly agreed in writing.

5.3 All use of CTA branding must cease immediately upon termination or expiry of membership.

6. Membership Benefits

6.1 Membership benefits vary by membership category and may be amended from time to time.

6.2 The CTA does not guarantee regulatory approval, commercial success, or specific outcomes as a result of membership.

6.3 The CTA may suspend, amend, or withdraw benefits where reasonably necessary.

7. Suspension and Termination

7.1 The CTA may suspend or terminate membership where a Member:

breaches these Terms and Conditions,

fails to comply with applicable laws or CTA policies,

fails to pay membership fees, or

acts in a manner that may bring the CTA or the wider sector into disrepute.

7.2 Where reasonably practicable, the CTA will notify the Member in writing and allow an opportunity to respond.

7.3 No refund will be provided where membership is suspended or terminated for breach.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 The CTA provides guidance, information, and representation but does not provide legal, medical, or regulatory advice.

8.2 Members remain solely responsible for their compliance decisions and business activities.

8.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the CTA shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or claim arising from reliance on information provided to Members.

9. Data Protection

9.1 The CTA will process personal data in accordance with UK data protection legislation and its Privacy Policy.

9.2 The Member confirms that it has the authority of its Primary Contact for their data to be used for membership administration and communications.

10. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

10.1 The CTA may amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

10.2 Members will be notified of material changes via email or publication on the Website.

10.3 Continued membership following notification constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms and Conditions.

11. Governing Law

11.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

11.2 Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
