Medical Cannabis Awareness Week (MCAW) is a UK-wide campaign bringing patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, advocacy organisations and industry together to improve understanding of prescribed cannabis-based medicines. It is about creating space for informed, open and practical conversations, while helping to challenge the stigma and misconceptions that can still surround medical cannabis in the UK.
Running from 2–8 November 2026, the week will feature a growing programme of panels, workshops, Q&As and patient stories. The aim is not simply to talk about medical cannabis, but to bring together the people who prescribe it, dispense it, research it, work within the sector and, most importantly, live with it as patients. Events will be free, online and open to everyone, making it easy to listen, learn, ask questions and hear directly from different parts of the community.
There are plenty of ways to get involved. Patients, carers and family members can share their experiences and help others understand what life with a cannabis-based prescription can really look like. Clinics, pharmacies, advocacy groups, professional organisations and businesses can become partners, contribute expertise, support sessions or help extend the campaign’s reach. There are also opportunities to volunteer, support the campaign and help keep its programme accessible to everyone.
Whether you already work in medical cannabis, are a healthcare professional wanting to learn more, are supporting someone with a prescription, or are simply curious about how prescribed cannabis medicines fit into modern healthcare, Medical Cannabis Awareness Week is an invitation to join the conversation.
