Cannabis Trades Association Receives 2025 GreenShield Award for Sector Leadership
The CTA has been named a recipient of the 2025 GreenShield Award, recognising a decade of leadership, advocacy, and practical support across the UK cannabis sector.
Presented by Global Cannabinoid Solutions, the award acknowledges the CTA’s long-standing role in providing stability, regulatory clarity, and constructive engagement during a period of rapid change and increasing scrutiny for the industry.
Since its establishment, the CTA has supported businesses, patient groups, and wider stakeholders through evolving legislation and regulatory frameworks, while maintaining a consistent focus on responsible and evidence-led sector development.
Marika Graham-Woods, Managing Director of the Cannabis Trades Association, said:
From the outset, the CTA has focused on helping the sector mature responsibly. Much of our work is practical and often unseen, translating complex regulation into workable guidance and supporting organisations through challenging moments. This award recognises the value of that steady, behind-the-scenes work.
The CTA has been actively engaged with policymakers and regulators, acting as a trusted intermediary between government bodies and industry participants. This role has helped reduce uncertainty, improve compliance standards, and ensure that operational realities are understood during policy development.
Sian Phillips, Executive Director of the Cannabis Trades Association, added:
A credible cannabis sector depends on cooperation, integrity, and long-term thinking. We have always believed that supporting the wider ecosystem, including start-ups, patient groups, and charities, is essential to building trust and resilience. It is encouraging to see that approach recognised.
Beyond its membership base, the CTA has provided guidance and support to a broad range of organisations, contributing to a more inclusive and collaborative industry environment. In recent years, this work has also supported renewed engagement and cohesion across the sector, helping responsible businesses navigate a complex commercial and regulatory landscape.
The GreenShield Award highlights the importance of sustained leadership and constructive engagement in shaping the future of the UK cannabis industry. As the CTA approaches its ten-year anniversary, the association has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening standards, supporting responsible innovation, and advocating for evidence-led policy.
Global Cannabinoid Solutions said the award reflects the CTA’s “consistent, principled contribution to the development of a more coherent and credible UK cannabis sector.”
The Cannabis Trades Association confirmed it will continue to prioritise regulatory clarity, sector education, and cross-industry collaboration as the market continues to evolve.
